Regular visitors to The Man Cave will have noticed that the rate of posts has dropped dramatically of late. That's primarily because I have switched my focus to Modern Naval Wargaming....in 1 to 1 scale.
Here is my new toy and yes it takes a lot of Codex Grey to do the ship's side! All these pics were taken during my first week in Command, in some rough seas off Sydney.

That's a great couple of pics of that ship plunging into the sea.

It was indeed a little lumpy!
DeleteCool looking ship!
ReplyDeleteNow that is seriously impressive! Just need to find someone to play with now! ;)
ReplyDeleteMy what a dourlooking crew! Keel hawling or a few lashes should improve morale!!!!
ReplyDeleteYarrrrrrgh!
DeleteGood morning old chap,
ReplyDeleteFantastic looking shots but I would have to agree with Owen on this - starting at the top of course! ;-)
She is very impressive looking - one of a class of four IIRC. All I can say is that I would need a lot of Hexon tiles to fit her on!
Many congratulations and all the best,
DC
There used to be six, but the first two in the class were decommissioned a few years ago. This old girl (20 next year) still has a bit of life in her yet though!
DeleteSo - gonna tell us what rules you are using for these games? ;)

Congratulations Paul. You must be a happy man.
ReplyDeleteSo when are you going to hang off the side like Jack Aubrey in the Master and Commander film?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Paul!
ReplyDeleteYou have done a nice job weathering the model. What size brush did you use?
That's one heck of a light box you must be using!
ReplyDeleteYou have minions?!? "Gentlemen, today you will learn to paint."
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new command. Cracking ship you have been given.
ReplyDeleteNever realised you were in the RAN - my Dad was formerly CO of the Canberra, though this was almost twenty years ago now.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, the seas remind me of the time my bro and I got to stow away on a trip to NZ. Firmly established I'll never be a sailor!
Enjoy your command. I could imagine that time away from the family is tough.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteNow, don't try to paint aboard! :D
Now that's impressive. Good luck painting figures in those southern seas.
ReplyDeletePretty cool, but not as cool as Army stuff...
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a big ship right there!
ReplyDeleteHuge congratulations commander!
Just curious, are you allowed to feed us photos from your job?
I bet you get so take fantastic pictures, in your missions...

ReplyDeleteSome of the missile launches look photoshopped. Budget cutbacks? :-)
I thought I'd return the favour from your visit to the dusty pages of my blog. Before I 'knew' you I had frequented your site to see what was happening on the other side of the world. This post from you always impressed me. I really have the utmost respect to naval servicemen and women as they have to operate in a context that, even in its most passive form, is largely hostile to human beings. My hat's off to you, dear sir!
ReplyDeleteThanks indeed Curt!
