WHFB: Beastmen v High Elves

Today my Beastmen faced off against Adam's High Elf army, filled with lovely metal figures. First outing for my recently completed Khornegors, some new Ungors and all were led by Khazrak One-Eye that Reilly had just pointed for me during the painting challenge.

The scenario required my Beastie Boys to force two river crossings - one ford and one bridge - but the river was enchanted, and the effects of getting wet varied significantly (from good to bad). Seeing the pretty boys arrayed before them, my snarling horde charged across the rapids...

...to find that on this occasion, the river fortuitously flowed red and gave combat bonuses to units that had passed through it that turn. Unfortunately for Adam, this proved to be rather decisive when added to all the Beastmen rank bonuses, and while some beatsmen died at the water's edge, the Elves took serious casualties and broke. 

To add insult to injury a measly Ungor unit followed up and destroyed the survivors (which happens when any enemy unit makes contact with a routing unit) - ouch!

Breaking through the flank, the Ungors threatened to run amok and attack the Elven artillery and were hunted to extinction by Giant Eagles - just as newly painted figures deserve!

Meanwhile, my main column advanced to the bridge...

...and led by Khazrak One-Eye they poured across it to hit the admittedly rather fearsome Elf line. Khazrak was a really awesome Character and made a huge difference

Crunch!!!

The Elves conducted a fighting withdrawal...

cleverly drawing the Beastmen into a position where Elven chariots could inflict some nasty flank charges...

and then the Elven Cavalry hit too! Beastie casualties were mounting but would the attrition be enough to stop them?

All of the newly painted Khornegors died (naturally) but the Beast-tide kept coming...

Ultimately, enough Beastmen broke through to secure the two crossings and the Elves were reduced to a few heroes with a couple of residual bodyguards. 

Khazrak One-Eye survived the curse of newly painted figures and survived (must be because I didnt paint him!) and the Heardstone was decorated with many trophies of fallen enemies!
