At Waterloo

Today being the 197th Anniversary of the Battle, I thought I'd dig out some pics of my visit to the Battlefield back in 2002 (when I was fatter but had more hair!).

And I celebrated with the Lad by watching a good documentary on the Battle.

And here is a really crappy video I made at the time!

  1. Wonderful Paul. I would really love to go there one day. Always like seeing photos of Waterloo.

    1. 2015 would be on my calendar Rodger - the Bicentenary will be rather spectacular I think!

  2. Pardon me for an ignorant Aussie, but what is the big dirt mound?

    1. We Aussies are never ignorant, only uniformed! :-)

Its the Lion's Mound, built where the Prince of Orange was knocked off his horse by a musket ball during the battle, and which gives spectacular view of the battlefield

  5. Hi Paul,

I have made visiting the battlefield one of the things that I have to do before I shuffle off this mortal coil - and I reckon that 2015 would be a great time to do it.

See you there then - and the beers are on you!

    All the best,

    DC
