This is our new Blood Bowl 7s pitch - fresh from the Man Cave factory floor!
The Lad and I built it together, which was fun in itself. Its based on foamcore, in which we scribed out the squares with a nail, glued on some sand, painted it brown, washed and dry-brushed that, and then added some flock. I then added another layer of watered down glue for added strength and durability, but it did unfortunately drain a lot of the brightness from the ground and leave it darker than anticipated. We then painted on the lines and the football motif in the centre.
Overall, I would say that I'm satisfied with the result. Its not quite what I was after or intended but it looks OK and is very functional. BB7s plays out in just over an hour so we can get a whole game in most afternoons - can't argue with that!
After our first few games I added small crosses between each square (not shown here) as it was tough to see in some spots. I've also taken to painting on splotches of blood on a square when a player is killed. Most of them belong to my teams...
Looks good. I am working on growing up my own opponent. Got a 50:50 chance on my daughter, I got her into Star Wars and Legos and she has played around with some of my Chainmail miniatures. She likes girl figures so I can try her on amazons so day. Or get some of the Greebo elves.
ReplyDeleteMy son is still many years away from such activities since he is brand new.
Looks excellent! Hope to see some BB gamereports with pictures soon :-)
ReplyDeleteLooks great mate! Building some scenery/boards is high on the list once I have a house to unpack all my stuff!
ReplyDeleteNice board, I just downloaded the BB7s rules.http://www.gamingcorner.nl/rules/boardgames/bloodbowl_7.pdf
ReplyDeleteI'll have to take a look.
Looks great. Never thought of doing BB&'s, have to give it a try
ReplyDeleteGood looking board, and I bet the small crosses really make it pop. I've got one pitch that I've been painting blood/KIA spots on for years now, it adds a lot of character over time.
ReplyDeleteLook great! I have been thinking of building one myself.
ReplyDeleteThat looks great well done!
ReplyDeletenice one, its turned out well
ReplyDeleteThat's good work, when do you start on the stands for the fans.
ReplyDeleteThanks all! Appreciated
ReplyDeleteMik - yes they really do, I'll take some updated pics soon
Lurker - its in hand my friend...
NOt in to Bloodbowl but I really like the pitch. Well done!
ReplyDeleteExcellent field!
ReplyDeleteLooks realy greate! Good work!
ReplyDeleteBest regards Dalauppror
I really liked it,and i guess that the lack of brightness really gaved it a more real feeling.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Nicely done! (I'd fire the groundskeeper though...)
ReplyDeleteI really like the way that looks! The green and brown pattern is amorphous, but suggests the grid of the board. That ball pattern in the center is great too. Overall, really nicely done.
ReplyDeleteI really, really like the idea of adding the blood for player fatalities too. Consider that one stolen.
