After a full day of gaming (and spending at the traders of course) some of us were able to get together for a some beers and a feed. It was a real hoot with many stories and tales told including the genesis of the GIMP label that Millsy now bears, banter about Analogue Hobby Challenges past and present, and laughing at jokes that only gamer geeks would understand. Names like Miles, Tamsin, Curt, Dave D may have come up in conversation and yes we had a beer (for each of you in turn) in absentia.
We were also joined by Craig Woodfield, author of Ronin and En Garde! A really nice bloke, it was very interesting to hear his behind the scenes perspective on being an author and getting his work published.
At some point (late in the evening it must be admitted) we decided that what was missing most in our lives was a campaign system for SAGA. Clearly the only appropriate course of action was to write to Alex at Studio Tomahawk...on beer coasters. These will be hand delivered by Ian from War and Peace Games when he goes to Salute in April. I'm sure Alex will treasure them!

What a great day and night out- thanks guys! We must do it again next year.
Gents, that really looks like a great day out! And you're all in blooming shorts at that! Here it's 2 degrees Celsius and raining like the end of the world...
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff guys! Love the shirt Millsy!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly helped to find we'd beaten Nowrich 5-4 when I woke up on Sunday feeling a bit seedy...
Delete"Feeling a bit seedy" TMI...LOL
DeleteWhat a blast! Can't wait for 2017. :-)
ReplyDeleteI think we might need to see what we can do at MOAB before that!
DeleteNow MOAB I'll certainly be able to do :)
DeleteAwesome to hear!
ReplyDeleteYour 'meters of pike' may also have come up in conversation Simon!
DeleteBrilliant day by the sounds... Beers in absentia .. Good on you.. Hope you enjoyed mine.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing the loot posts as well.
One day perhaps a global meet up!
Great catch up with a great bunch of blokes. Blog on!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you guys had a blast! The idea of a campaign game for Saga is a capital idea and your choice of stationary is inspired. I shall lift a glass of wine to all of you tonight.
ReplyDeletewhat is this "Gimp" monicker you speak off?
Sounds like you had a great time Paul :)
ReplyDeleteI do hope that you each had a beer for each of us in absentia, not just one beer between you for each of us ;)
That looks like a brilliant day. Thank goodness you've all gotten the Saga campaign sorted out. That's a relief.
ReplyDeleteWe felt it was our duty to the wider blogging community!
DeleteNice to see faces to go with names!
ReplyDeleteThat good looking chap in the pink shirt is also Steve from 'At the double' (http://144paces.blogspot.com.au) ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve!
DeleteGreat to catch up with everyone IRL!
ReplyDeleteIt was great to put some more names to faces. Sorry I missed the dinner, we went left and you all went right upon leaving the Tradies. Although the condition Ian came back in was "disheveled" so probably best I missed it!
ReplyDeleteGreat you all got to meet up, now you've all got to come over to Salute for the blogger meetup!
ReplyDeleteVery cool to see this. Must get my Darwin ass down to that event. I imagine it was lots of fun to see bloggers face to face. Needs more beard though...but not hipster ones...ha ha ha.
ReplyDeleteHopefully Saga campaign of beer soaked goodness happens. cheers
Great to meet up with all and sundry and put faces to the words of wisdom that I read. Hmm MOAB sounds good and for the New South Welshmen perchance a larger game in Sydney or the Gong?
