Off and racing!

The lights are green and the competitors burst over the starting line to start the 4th Annual Painting Challenge! Well everyone except of course the Dux who has stalled on the starting line.  Someone must have tinkered with his ignition system.... Bwahahahaha!

Good luck to all!  I hope you all enjoy the fun of getting some figures done and I hope you meet your individual challenge totals.  I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with.

Moving House and Only 3 days to go!

Today I departed the Man Pad in Sydney and moved home permanently after two years living away.  I now have almost two months off to send with my family (and toys) before I start a new role.  A most timely move it is too with the last frenzy of figure prepping in hand before the painting competition begins in three days. And thus, I start to reclaim the Man Cave proper with a bit of judicious trimming- as you can see here :-)

So R.I.P. Man Pad: some good times there with Comrade James and the Dux, with the odd beer thrown in!

Hopeless

Some of you may recall that at times I have demonstrated a willpower equivalent to the tensile strength of a warm mars bar (an excellent example of which may be found here).  Unable to paint figs for another week waiting for the Painting Challenge to begin has further eroded my convictions.  So this this week after further considering the fun game we recently had (see here) I acquired the rather lovely and impressive Battlegroup Kursk rulebook.  Hmmm, shiny....

I blame you Dux!

Centenary of the Great War

The Australian War Memorial is prepping exhibits now to commence a series of activities to commemorate the centenary of the Great War.   No doubt many other similar institutions are doing likewise.  While the 100 years of Gallipolli events in 2015 will no doubt be a major highlight, they are by no means the only focus.  I particularly like this photo from the AWM website.  Just try smuggling a kangaroo overseas these days!
