AHPC Preps and off for a spell

The obscure SdKfz 254 Artillery FO vehicle
Recently I have been considering my options for the upcoming AHPC Season IX.  I have a number of bits and bobs to do but I always have a central theme. I also have a penchant for buying and prepping figures, and then completely ignoring them during the challenge as new projects begin and new interests are kindled. Oh well...

This year I am hoping to bulk out my fantasy force a bit (and because they are left over from a previous AHPC) but my main push is my 15mm Afrika Korps, both for Battlegroup Tobruk and the later Torch period.  During AHPC VIII, I concentrated on the recce and light armour forces - this year I will add the heavier (its all relative in 41-42!) Pz IVs and a range of specialist vehicles. I have enjoyed finding the less common ones to really round out the force and give me a myriad of options.

But before all that commences I am back to sea for operational deployment and will return in December. In the meantime Reilly has just finished his Yr 12/HSC/SAT/A Level exams so I am hoping to tempt him back to some modelling and gaming before he starts University next year.  In the meantime these are now on my Santa list, along with the recently announced and long awaited SAGA Book of Battles.

and speaking of distracting new interests...

So...who else plans on participating in the forthcomingAHPC Season?
A very wise Dreadnought indeed!

  2. Your should join in the 15mm Napoleonics craze that has swept me up. I hear Limbers are a blast to paint - maybe even the single funniest thing to paint - ever. No it's true, I heard it from the "Dreadnought of the Lake" so you can count on it. I can even send you some to do. Oh the fun you'll have. If that doesn't excite you well, umm, I've this here old fence that needs some whitewashing and normally I keep that all to myself but seeing how your such a nice guy....

Here's to a safe and successful voyage and quick return home.

    1. The lads are doing some 28mm nappies now for Sharp Practice and I have been considering a small Royal Marine contingent. Alas they are sans limbers though, which is a pity and I shall make my amends to said Dreadnought of the Lake :-)

      Cheers Miles!

    1. Excellent - It wouldn't be a proper AHPC without camels Dave!

  6. Nice vehicles Paul :)

I will be taking part in this year's AHPC after taking last year off. I've got a lot of things in the wings waiting to be painted, perhaps even enough for AHPC 10 as well. But I'm sure that I'll be adding to the potential projects before and during the Challenge ;)

    1. It will be good to have you back Tamsin, but your usual rank upon rank of 6mm figs can be intimidating!

  7. Haha. The minute I saw Cruel Seas I thought of you mate. I'm sure you'll love it and buy a veritable ton of the stuff too. Definitely joining in AHPC again this year and very much looking forward to it as ever.

  10. Looking forward to the Challenge as well (well, the participant part of me is). I went in big for 'Cruel Seas' so I hope to be getting some of those done during the winter.
