The US Marine Corps Museum

Amongst other adventures, last week I visited the USMC Museum in Virginia.  Very highly recommended if you get the chance.  The guides are all USMC veterans and are a delight to chat with while you enjoy the fantastic exhibits.  Here are just a few of my personal highlights, though some were admittedly research for my Vietnam gaming:

  4. Paul,
Next time you go there let me know - a friend of mine is the Registrar there (not quite sure what a registrar does at a museum?) and I will give him a heads up!

  6. This is an excellent museum. Visited in 2014 and my only regret was that I didn't have enough time to give all the displays the attention they deserve.

  7. Cool pics... was the tyre on the 105 gun supposed to be deflated?

    1. I understand it was common practice in a prepared position like this under constant fire, as it lowered the silhouette of the gun and crew operating it. Of course, the curator could have been having a lend of me too!

  10. Actually, this was my second trip in the last 10 years or so. Enjoyed both times and while I have an exceptionally patient wife when it comes to indulging my military tourism, but going there with your mates is a different experience
