My next unit will be more Cavalry - Russian Uhlans (Lancers), which featured prominently at Balaclava and other battles. Amongst others, the Russians employed a Combined (Composite) Uhlan regiment, comprising squadrons from different regiments, all under the command of Colonel V. M. Yeropkin (sometimes spelled Jeropkine).
Three of these, the Litovskyi, Volynskyi and Odesskyi regiments, were engaged with the Light Division during their (in)famous charge. Squadrons were also provided by the Voznesenskyi, Olviopolskyi, and Bugskyi Regiments, though they were not part of the engagement with the British Light Brigade.

DeleteOooh colourful, I thought the sneaky Russians were always brown? Seriously though this should be an amazing sight. Just how big a force are you assembling here? I only ask as it would seem that you have convinced me to well and truly come along for the ride and what started as just finishing off some existing purchases and long aborted plans has seen new additions added to the collection. These have included some flights of fancy of course!
ReplyDeleteIts a good and increasingly valid question Michael! Its a solo project thus far and I'm not tied to any particular rules set, so I'm not sure to be honest. I really need to consider that while I do the Cavalry, which will include both the Uhlans and some Cossacks and get the artillery done.
