Charlie, a new retiree greeter at Wal-Mart, just could not get to work on time.
Every day he was 5, 10, 15 minutes late. But he was a good worker, really tidy, clean shaven, sharp-minded and a credit to the company. He was clearly demonstrating the benefit of Wal-Mart's "older persons are friendly" policy.
One day the boss called him into his office for a talk. "Charlie, I have to tell you, I like your work ethic, you do a bang up job, but you being late so often is quite bothersome".
"Yes, I know boss, and I am working on it."
"Well good, you are a team player. That's what I like to hear. It's odd though you coming in late. I know you're retired from the Navy. What did they say if you came in late there?"
"They said 'Good morning, Admiral, can I get you a cup of coffee, sir?"

Man Cave Motor Sports
Went to the Australian Grand Prix yesterday- awesome!!! Ears are still ringing actually! I thought the V8s were loud until the F1s cranked up the revs- they were louder than the RAAF F/A-18 Hornet which did a fly-past!
Got trackside seats right where the pit exit rejoined the main track, about 100yds from the start/finish line. Sweet. right about where this pic was taken, but I was at ground level. WoW - did those F1s fly past!
I got lots of pics of blurs and empty track. I claim it was the camera, not the beers I enjoyed :-)

Red Blok walker repaints
Repainted for service in Weird War 2, these Red Blok walkers look great in their new colours IMHO! They look a little lacking in their anti-Zombie defences though...

Memoir 44: Breakthrough
New hotness for Mem'44. Not a game I pull out all the time, but one I always enjoy lots when I do.
Go deep behind enemy lines at Sword Beach as you airdrop in to capture the bridges of the Orne... Join Guderian's famed Panzers as they battle the armored columns of the British Expeditionary Forces... Sign on for Operation Crusader to take on Rommel in the deserts of North Africa and liberate the garrison in Tobruk...
The Memoir '44 Breakthrough Expansion will take you deep into the battles of World War II with two, double-sided, 9-panel board maps covering all four Memoir '44 map environments - countryside, beach, winter and deserts These oversize boards stretch the limit of current printing technology and are 13 x 17 hexes deep, opening up the Breakthrough format to new, more expansive scenarios.
The Breakthrough Expansion includes 15, never-in-print-before scenarios, created by Jacques "jdRommel" David, and Memoir '44 author, Richard Borg. These scenarios cover the Western and Eastern Fronts, as well as the Mediterranean and Pacific Theaters and include classic battles such as: Operation Crusader; Operation Amherst; and two different renditions of Sword Beach - all designed for the 13 x 17 hex Breakthrough format.

La Rouge Rubbish
I love WW1 Flying films, I think 'Dawn Patrol" from 1938 (starring Errol Flynn) is one of my all time favourites closely followed by "The Blue Max". I even liked the flying sequence from the recent 'Flyboys' which were great (though the rest of the film was pretty average). This one I was looking forward to - a German made movie about their most famous fighter pilot.
So it pains me to recommend: Don't bother, its a stinker!
Seriously, the fleeting flying sequences are glimpses of what could have been, but sadly these are far and few between. Then ironically, the movie just ends and you dont see the finale you have struggled through the rest of for! On a more personal note, not even a mention of the Australian soldiers who brought him down with groundfire (conclusively proven through autopsy a few years ago).
Do yourself a favour- skip this and go watch Dawn Patrol instead!

Carcassonne unearthed!
Started a rediscovery of an old favourite this weekend. Hopefully, we can play a bit of this over the next few weeks
4 points for first place, 3 points for second...you get the idea. After some tutoring for the newbie-oldies, Day 1 point tally looks like this:
Man Cave - 4
SWMBO - 3
The Lad - 2
The Lass - 1

Xenomorph Heads
This one is for Comrade James (though Owen will likely be interested too). Imagine these heads on a Genestealer body, sprayed black with a few highlights and a glossy varnish....skittering around inside a Hulk...
